An Interview with Abraham Osorio
Abraham Osorio has created a five-song collection of instrumental worship songs for people to listen to during their prayer time, or to enhance their worship.
Where did the inspiration from this project come from?
“I’ve been wanting to do a project like this for years, but now I’m at a place where I have the resources to do it, and it just feels like the right time. The songs are inspired by experiences in my own life in the past year. It’s all been a reminder of a dream I had a long time ago to do this.”
Have you always had an interest in instrumental music? Why no lyrics?
“I’ve always had an interest in orchestral music and music created for film, plus I studied composition at Azusa Pacific University. So instrumental music is something that has always been a part of my background and musical style.”
What do you hope this project will do for its listeners?
“The simple answer is: inspire people to pray. This project isn’t about music; it’s about the purpose of the music, and the purpose is prayer. There have been so many moments in my prayer time when I felt God speak to me and I thought, Wow, I wish other people could experience this feeling. I hope it will help people get closer to the Lord.”
Besides the instrumental-only concept of the album, what was different about working on this project compared to your previous releases?
“Typically I collaborate with other people when working on music, but this is truly a project of my own. The creative process was very simple: I would go to the studio, pray, hit Record and just play. I let go of my perfectionism because I wanted it to be real.”
